SESD | In my experience, at least 30 hp per row and the proper ballast to get the hp to the ground (approx 10,000 lbs per 100 hp in my case). This is for a shank machine pulling 7-8" deep in the fall. Stripping 12 and planting 16 works okay with rtk and flat fields. A passive or implement guidance system on your strip till bar makes it better yet. Adding a passive or implement steering system to your planting rig as well is even better. It's very important to keep your planted rows as close to the center of your strips as possible to insure seed is going into a clean strip.
