| There's a window pretty much every year when things aren't ideal. I got burnt in 2013 with cold shock, so I'm very careful about watching the weather, and won't plant if there's a chance of it. I think the companies committ to the new hybrids too quickly in the pursuit of new and improved. Good hybrids are ones that perform more than just one year in a row. When the old hybrid has an almost perfect stand, and the race horse has about a 2/3 stand, which would you want? This was planted 4/28 which is not early around here.
I know they dont guarantee yield, but I've been around long enough to know they have it built on their budget to help out on these situations. The big guys collect on a regular basis I'm sure. | |
