Subject: "Sonny, just forget about it and go home"

West Union, Illinois

Been several years ago we had a share crop landlady with a reputation for squeezing her pennies so hard Lincoln squeaked.  It had been a long planting season and I was out mid June with a 3 point drill planting holes and thin spots.  She pulled up in her old yellow Ranchero (that was her farm truck).  She said "Sonny, just forget about it and go home.  All you are doing is making green beans for when you harvest."

I've thought about it over the years and find she was pretty much right.
