I would probably summer fallow it this summer and  grow a good wheat crop next year. 40 years ago my dad disced up the alfalfa and planted Milo grew a good crop  but it rained that summer. Years later we harvested the wheat for grain and swathed and baled the the alfalfa  ,wheat straw mix. then just worked it up for wheat
