I understand your area. If you think the odds of burning up are fairly high I would just fallow from here forward. Drill wheat this fall. You can still insure it as summer fallow wheat. That hopefully will recharge the soil profile some then plant corn into the wheat stubble the following year and you should have a decent shot at growing some good crops.
