Subject: RE: Hemp dogbane

nw NC
Only place I see Hemp Dogbane here is in permanent grassland fields. None ever gets established in my continuous no-till corn silage land. I kill it in grassland by spot spraying with Glyphosate. A little 2-4-D mixed in the spray solution is helpful in identifying whether or not you may have missed a few plants. 2-4-D will put some easily seen curl and twisting into the dogbane plants by the next day. Grasses in the spots will be killed but new grass vegetation always returns very quickly without any need for me to scatter any seed. If new seed were to be needed, just over seed the area and the fallen hemp leaves will provide a good ground cover mulch for new grass seed. I use a 2% solution as directed by label below.
