Those with experience.... when do you find is the best time to roll soybeans?

Preplant?
Right after planting?
or after the beans have emerged?

Have any of you had a "bad experience" rolling beans?  Meaning.... you think the rolling did more harm than good.  If so, what do you think was the reason for the "failure"?

As always.... thanks for your replies.

I sprayed my cover crops in mid March and planted into them on April 2nd still standing. I let the beans get to the first trifoliate and rolled with a crimper to lay everything down. Saw very little damage from rolling the beans that way. Will likely do the same again next year, but will plant a week or two later and kill the rye asap, after planting. I have to fool the deer and they just don't like to get out in the cereal rye once it gets over their head for whatever reason.
