Subject: RE: Unused Grass - Best Use for Future Grazing

North Dakota
It would make the most sense to me to have it hayed on shares, then sell your share for at least some revenue this year or use it yourself.
The grass was not used last year it should have left seed last year.
The old hay the cows will eat also if left to no other alternative but at that point the new growth may be over grazed. Removing it even for a small financial gain would be better.
Thinking after cutting it it will grow back some and maybe not grow as tall but could possibly go to seed and catch moisture over the winter.
Old grass without cutting will also catch moisture and provide shade for the new growth.
I don't believe just leaving it will hurt you in any way except for being a possible fire hazard but haying it will provide someone with hay and create some revenue this year.
Result to the grass I think would remain the same either way.
I have no experience on this except what living in North Dakota has given me but this is my conjecture on the subject. Having extra is a nice problem.
