Ours is pretty close to the house…about 150 ft. I don’t recommend putting it that close but it is nice during harvest.
I don’t hear it from our bedroom but I can sleep on the couch and can tell if the air system, fan, or burner quit.
I wouldn’t hesitate at all to have it 400 ft from the house. If you have any axial fans on a bin try to point them away from the house.
