I’ve seen mine get so hot that when you come out in 100 degree temps it feels cold outside for a minute. 140* starts to kill seed germ.
Lots of guys put seed in them though. I pulled some cotton out of grandpas and it was 50% after 5 years.
Wheat seems to keep fine in them. A whirlybird on top makes a huge difference.
