NEIA
Most around here roll right behind the planter. I always rolled later after they were up. First to second trifoliate was best on a warm day. Doing it later the roller was always available and the corn residue doesn't end up in the ditch or fence rows if the wind blows hard. The stuff blowing is about the only down side. Sure makes combining a lot easier here. Smooth, can cut low and rocks don't break sections or end up in the combine.
Did some one year it was wet and couldn't get out sooner. 3rd tri's were out. That was tough to look at after rolling and smelled like a fresh cut hay field. Broke a lot of plants off and they stopped growing for a while. You want to stress a bean plant and the grower that will do it. In the end they still yielded the same. Never did it again.
