Subject: RE: Replant corn

Iowa - Floyd County
I’d leave it if it were mine. Is this no till? We’re on 22” rows and no till everything, dad has some 14 year continuous corn, we run into the same problem from time to time.

Couple things we’ve done that have helped us. Leave the stalks as long as possible in the fall, less to blow back over the row. We went to yetter shark tooth row cleaners on our CleanSweep system, they do an excellent job of moving just what you need them to. We had spike cleaners before the shark tooth and couldn’t get them to do what we wanted. Cover crops have also helped us manage residue in the spring, if you can get decent growth it really helps keep stuff pinned down. I understand that’s not possible everywhere.
