If you’re going for straw anyway just leave the head unlocked and put it on the ground. Might have to find the right angle or direction for the best cut. Then get your reel out and down so it is lifting the crop before the knife. Sometimes you need to adjust the reel position depending on how the crop is laying to balance cleaning the knife and moving the crop. Hopefully you don’t have rocks. Then it’s just a matter of grinding all the material through the combine. Slow and steady for the win. Good luck.
