Ran the same in furrow seed firmer type and after we went away from in furrow to 2x2 never put a firmer of any kind back on. Dad and I always thought they had the potential to drag seed in the trench as well. So long as your seed discs are set correctly and your down pressure and closing wheel pressure is good you’ll be fine. Never had a seed not come up as a result of not being “firmed” into the seed trench. You dig up a missing seed and find it still there it’s because it’s the 5% that is guaranteed not to come up not a result of being less firm than the one 6 inches on either side.
