Subject: Seeding grass into standing rye

SE SD
A few acres on a commercial site were seeded with cereal rye late last fall to get some cover after construction. It wasn't quite ready for grass seed at the time due to ongoing construction. Kind of a mess of stuff...drainage areas, septic system, etc. Would prefer not to disturb the soil in a lot of these areas since there is good rye cover. What would be the best way to seed a grass mix into this rye? Thinking of using a no-till drill. Will the grass grow if it is seeded into the rye or does the rye need to be terminated first? Wait until fall? The rye isn't necessarily real thick but there's plenty of it. Southeast SD. Heavy soil.
