If you have a inline ripper would use it,then spread,then finish,then plant. If you have a roller that is a great tool for where cattle have compacted the ground. I have one of my young helpers following me about 2 minutes behind me even though the roller is 51 foot wide and my chisel is only 17 foot wide. The lumps break up if crushed right away, 3 hours later not so much.... Dennis
