Subject: RE: Sc ks still planting drylan corn

perryton, tx
I’m several hundred miles southwest of SC Kansas but our growing seasons are pretty similar. For me June 20 is the sweet spot for planting dryland corn. For us the primary goal is to push pollination past the worst of the summer heat. There are a number of others in the region who have adapted the same strategy. I don’t know if there’s an insurance planting date cutoff for you which isn’t an issue for us because we can’t get coverage for dryland corn anyway.
