Subject: RE: tile plow

Farmington, Mo
My only experience is with a Soilmax Gold Digger Stealth ZD. It’s a 3 point and is hell for stout! Hooked many rocks in our installs…even rolled a few to the side which I understand isn’t uncommon…even in Iowa.

We use RTK grade control with Outback 320/321 receivers.
Works great and no subscription to maintain.

8400 Deere will be ok if weighted up…but will need helper tractor at times. Bigger the pipe, the bigger the boot and shear, the harder the pull. Need roughly 10K lbs per foot of depth on a 4” boot. Sometimes, we have our 33K lb 8330 on the plow, the 28K lb 7200R and the 18K lb 7230 to get through a deep tough spot. Pre ripping is a necessity.

Only do a pull type on the 8400T. A quad track with a 3 point would be good but not easy to find or afford at times.

Good luck! Both rewarding and frustrating to do your own work but it allows us to do jobs we would never have a contractor do but pay big dividends.
