I use PLS to set rate and aim for 1.5 million seeds/acre if I want no herbicide or cultivation. That's anywhere from 75-130 lb/acre depending on seed size and germ.
Where I'm not relying on the rye alone for weed control 40 lb/acre is plenty drilled or broadcast and disked in.
