What's the upside to a gut shot outside of the deer dieing slow and painful? I completely get the need to kill them, but don't see the advantage to making them suffer with a gut shot.
Don't want the dead carcass in the middle of a crop field. Want them to run back to the woods and die.
If done right I doubt they suffer much or last long.
Shoot them just as they come out of the woods to eat the crop and they don't have far to run as they die.
I've seen lots of deer shot during deer season that run 50 to 100 yards then drop dead. Adrenaline? Knee-jerk reaction? Poor shot? Don't know what it's called, but it happens a lot. |
