East of Broken Bow | I know a guy who still cultivates with a 2+2. Said he learned on one, and does fine with it, but wipes out a lot of corn if he uses a conventional tractor.
I imagine it is all about what you are used to.
You should watch him, he knows that tractor like the back of his hand. At the end of the field, as he turns at the headland, the 'front' of the tractor is partway through the turn while the back part is still tracking down the row. He lifts the cultivator exactly at the end of the rows, and the cultivator is still square with the rows even though the tractor has quite a bend in the middle. He cranks the corner sharp, and drops the cultivator just as it squares up with the rows for the next pass. Just watching you can tell he did that many, many times. | |
