Eastern Nebraska | Cultivating 16r30, have run the buffalo guidance system the most. We rarely attempt contours though. Have used a number of different MFWD's. JD 8400, 8285R, 8370R, Challenger 1042, JD 8R340. The tires knocking down crop is just part of it. Pretty much if you have to turn the wheel more than a quarter turn you're better off stopping, backing up, and resetting. I do remember running 6r36 as a kid with a 4440, and I know what you mean, that was much more forgiving (and the wipeouts weren't so scary).
Usually only run the guidance on the first pass, subsequent passes will want to just follow your previous path anyways.
Also the second pass we usually remove the barring off discs. | |
