North Dakota | You are correct I am not utilizing my land for 10 months. I am estimating my input costs are around $35.00 per acre. I am getting 2 quality alfalfa bales per acre valued at possibly $70.00 a piece. $140.00 minus $35.00 = est $105.00 per acre. It may not end up this way exactly but I am a long ways into the profit side and am putting some back into the soil for the future sustainability. My machinery investment is a small fraction of the cost of the other approach.
