Central NY | Air downforce/lift was a nice switch after springs. Wasn’t very fast to adjust from zone to zone, and the whole planter was on one zone…but better than springs. For no till and highly variable ground I can see our hydraulic working much better now with row by row and making quick adjustments. I could drive slow and do a good job with the air force, but the hydraulic definitely has its place for notill and in our soils.
The load pins can be an expensive component, all of ours needed replaced at least once over the course of 1,000 acres per row (30”). Had them on every row. Never had to replace an airbag though.
Air bags should be cheap, I have a pallet of them that I don’t think will bring us much money. I would think you can find a planter with them already on though, without paying much of a premium for them | |
