I believe no till soybean and strip till corn works in north central Iowa. I started in 1991. Some has not been worked other than strips since then. Some has had what I call “corrective tillage” done on parts of fields due to ruts/washes/ changed row direction. My deep tillage has been every 30’ around 3 feet deep (drainage tile) which then requires more shallow tillage to level back down.

You can’t honestly call your field cultivated ground no till the year you till it but what’s in a name? You should do what is best for the soil long term. That sometimes means a set back or correction short term.
