Subject: RE: Hay Profitability

Northeastern Pa.
Location / customer base is a factor. We quit growing alfalfa because of the cost and we found timothy sold just as good or better. We were lucky to get a horse stable customer and when he retired the new owner was happy to have us supply them. We used to send a lot of hay to NJ., Great Adventure and the NYPD through a dealer. Hay paid the bills and made the possibility for growing row crops. Don't use an Atrazine product the year before going from corn to hay.
