The rotating every 3-4 years takes alot of the profitability out of it IMO.  Alfalfa is fairly expensive to put in, and we like to get 7-10 years out of it. 



Must be a there thing here in 7-10 years you’d have a piss poor alfalfa stand.  Dairies here only get 3-4 years out of an alfalfa stand.  Before rotating it out.  The field we get most of our alfalfa for baleage is 4 years old and plan to plant its replacement this spring.
