SW MN | Running fertilizer through a sprayer will inevitably lead to rust issues on booms and frame due to drift, spills, etc. Have you priced a self propelled sprayer lately? It isn't easy to find good low hour ones, and running those machines that are at the 3000+ hour are like playing Russian Roulette. Repairs can get super spending. Tending makes it go faster but that is an added expense. If you don't do a good job you can run over a lot of growing crop. It's not the cake job that it appears to be but people do it because it can pay in spades for your own crop. I actually don't know a lot of custom guys that do this though. Probably a reason for it. Timing is critical and if it is wet, and can't get into the field, you can be screwed. | |
