Not really. Rather have good alfalfa crop for 3-4 years vs one that isn’t worth haying on year 5-6. Seed cost has been $60/max for us, that’s $20/yr per ac with 2 good cuttings/yr which puts the per bale seed cost at $3.
I’ve seen enough old hay stands to know they are money losers
