Yes, of course that's one option, but certainly not the only one in dealing with the issue.

Notill, properly understood, is a systems approach, not a crutch to be applied when conditions seem favorable, but discarded the following year. That's more like, I don't know, "lazy till" under those circumstances. Pretty easy to wander off into the weeds on this subject, so I'll stop there.

Bottom line, for me, anyway, is you can remain continuous notill for 25+ years and overcome problems like grey slugs without resorting to tillage. Just takes a little more nuanced approach that doesn't rely on steel in the ground, or some dope in a jug.
