NE Iowa | I fall spread potash and elemental on cornstalks going to beans. I like to spring spread a blend of potash, AMS, and 2 years worth of DAP on bean stubble going to corn. My favorite retailer only stocks DAP so put all P on ahead of corn in the spring to get full use of the N in the DAP. Elemental in fall ahead of beans works good. I feel AMS ahead of beans is a waste of money. Beans don't need the N. Elemental is not NewAgtalk approved and I am not sure why. Elemental is slow release sulfur and cheap. Lots of farmers pay a big premium for slow release nitrogen but for some reason slow release sulfur is a bad thing. Doesn't make any sense to me. In your situation I would definitely switch the bean fertilizer to fall and switch to elemental. | |
