I have mixed fertilizer and seed many times, usually grass seed, and then used a fertilizer spreader to sow.
It has always worked well.
The only caution I tried to watch for was to get it planted as soon after mixing as possible, I don't think the seed and fertilizer play nice together mixed up and sitting for long periods.
