Coles County, Illinois | When I plan on spraying Liberty I'll go out in the field as soon as my neighbor's crop is up and spray liberty on a couple of my neighbor's plants with liberty out of a strong mixed hand sprayer. Maybe a week or so later I'll go back out and look at those plants. Most often they'll be Liberty Ready so no worries. If they aren't then I'll slow down next to them and run at a lower pressure and or gauge the wind to keep over-spray controlled.
What I look for in contact killer nozzles is droplet size at the intended pressure. Since I may be spraying knee high soybeans I need higher pressure in order to penetrate the canopy. I need medium droplet size as the distance that the droplets travel gets longer with the 60 degree angle and getting to the bottom of the plant. Fine droplets would work if I slowed down but I then to get up to 10 mph which is creating it's own wind effect.
Asymmetrical nozzle angle designs interest me so that one could compensate for forward travel speed but my boom is only two dimensional and all that extra weight and cost as I like having different sizes (03,04,05) of the same nozzles keeps me from experimenting with them.
I'm curious why Il Weedman no longer uses AI tips. I like AIXR's for pre emerge use. | |
