Finger Lakes | Are there any things that will help alleviate yield drag? Due to weather the burndown was delayed. It was sprayed Monday and then followed by a few days of cold weather. The rye is 10-15" tall and just starting to gray off a little today. A few articles I've read said wait until it's dead brown to plant the corn. The field is fit to plant now, so it will be frustrating to wait another week or ten days for totally dead & brown rye. There will be a yield hit for just delaying planting too. I can either no till or chisel plow and disc. Any advantage to one? I'll add more N in starter too. Any other suggestions or things to consider will be appreciated.
