They are not killing the crop. Read closer. They are simply saying that in the eastern corn belt, if this pattern continues past may the 10th, the odds of an above normal national corn yield gets harder to achieve. If you look back at history, the highest national yields came when more than 50% of the corn acres where planted before may 10th.
