Subject: Bad alfalfa kill in fall

south central WI
Last fall our sprayer broke, so coop came out and finished spraying it. It was fairly ineffective, maybe a 50-70% kill. I want to get it this spring, but that's usually a challenge to impossible. It was fall chiseled, so it's rough and will be worked and planted before we try to spray it again.

We usually follow the planter fairly quickly with our preemerge. Usually we use lumax or surestart. The lumax should kill it, but doesn't. This year we are spraying Harness Xtra. Does it matter if I wait to spray a few days, or wait a week +, or won't it matter? I feel like the alfalfa won't really be growing to take in the spray for a while. I would like to spray it now and just come back with a 2nd pass later, but if it will kill it if I wait for a week then I will just try a one pass spray.
