The ability to spread clover to a 30 foot spread pattern for the ATV model used for frost seeding is what set the herd seeder apart for me versus the others ATV seeders at 8-9 feet spread pattern.
Johnk is right. Rate is approximate because of the gate opening is your only control. If you have time, seed half rate one direction and the other half rate perpendicular to average the 2 seed rates and spread pattern. Calibration is easy because you can time the output and collect easily. From there rate becomes tricky as holding an ATV to within 1 mph variation or even a couple just escalates the rate variables. For a tractor 3pt model it gets more control on consistent and accurate speed | |
