| My alfalfa is getting played out. According my agronomist I should rotate out for two years before going back to alfalfa. So I am trying to think ahead to next year, as I just can't do it this year. I am thinking of planting hay barley next year, and have it combined in August 2025, and then planting turnups and radishes in the stubble. Then the following year probably plant hay barley, or oats that I would bale, and on year three go back to alfalfa. Does this seem like a good plan? what kind of yield should I expect from the barley. I did do a search on the net and it looks like anywhere from 40 to 60 bushels per acre. This is all on irrigated fields. This would be my first time with combining crops. | |
