Subject: RE: Do wild turkeys hurt anything?

NW Illinois Stephenson county
When turkeys were introduced in our area they had 3 hatchings a year. They would walk in a follow the leader line with big ones leading smaller ones with smaller ones following with the smallest ones bringing up the rear. If you saw them they would leave your sight very fast. I tried to hit them with my truck, but I never could hit any. Along the creek in the bottoms the outside row or 2 would tassel later than the rest of the field because the turkeys would pull up the top of the baby corn plants but leave the growing point intact. The best way to hunt them was to crush all the eggs in their nest if you found one. Natural predators must have reduced their populations, because I hardly ever see one anymore.
