Subject: Saturated cold germination seed tests.

West Central Indiana
Anyone here ever send there seed corn off for “cold germ test” or “saturated cold germ tests”? I have used SGS labs in South Dakota for a long time for these 2 tests. Has been eye opening over the years to see how different lot numbers of the same hybrid can be good or bad. A friend of mine uses SoDak labs. For curiosity I sent 2 different varieties of corn to both labs for the 2 test mentioned above.

Both corns passed the saturated cold germ test at 1 lab.
Both corns failed the saturated cold germ test at the other lab.

Isn’t there a saying that goes “he who has 2 watches doesn’t really know what time it is.”

Anyone have any experience with this they would care to share?

Thanks.
