I'm thinking the same thing.
He said no erosion, so I'm assuming that he means there wasn't a major dirt movement, but some the water had to run off, and some of the fertilizer would have moved with it. It didn't have a chance to leach into and attach to soil if there was no rain in the week between application and the 3.5".
