Subject: RE: Row Cleaners and Yield Difference?

Northern Indiana
Have no yield data, this is just an observation we had from last year. We run fixed row cleaners that are pin adjust. After rebuilding them one got mounted back on the planter 2 inches lower than it should’ve been. Somehow we didn’t catch it in the hustle and bustle. Until we were going over the planter before putting in a test plot 700 acres into corn planting. Our agronomist actually caught it while we were doing our pre plot inspection. And interestingly for the rest of the growing season the corn was noticeably poorer in that one row. Didn’t grab any ears to do a yield check but it was very easy to see that having the row cleaner set too low had at least a negative visual impact on the plant. Not exactly what you were asking and we definitely wouldn’t be without them but it’s not a set and forget type thing
