Southeast WI | Real world example here - I hate tillage - my disclaimer.
Started farming my dad and uncles farm last year. Some fields are very rough from previous tillage passes. They have heavy chickweed and some purple deadnettle in those fields. The fields were limed last month. I am going to spray gly next week to terminate weeds that tillage will just drag around, the cereal rye that was fall planted will help hold soil in place even with tillage and my lime will be "activated" immediately.
That's a reason.
