'97 was the wettest year I remember. Crops were turning yellow, and the milk truck was stuck for a week on a gravel road.
That's the year an old guy came in complaining about the "drought." He said his land was blowing away, and "if we don't get some rain, it will be a disaster."

He only had one field, and he got on his tractor every day, and worked it until it was just dry dust.
Worst case of "recreational tillage" I ever saw.
