Subject: RE: Cloud seeding

NCND
So myself and a group of guys fought this in ward county nd for some years before finally getting it on a vote in 2020. We won by a 9-1 margin but counties to my west still do it so ……. Storms can never traverse 100 miles of seeded country to get to our place. Williams county in MT border started in 2000. Prior to that period we avg almost 3.2” rain per July. Now it is at 2.49 and falling.

They make lots of claims but none of them have ever been proved in a double blind study. Warm season convective cloud hail suppression is only done in ND. Everywhere else that did hail suppression in USA has quit. There is some data here that shows rain has decreased since they started compared to non seeded areas but to get the political and aviation class to acknowledge that is like getting a die hard democrat to say Joe Biden might have lost a few steps.

As poster below said we had more damage from small hail from seeded storms than we have had since they quit. We actually have not had hail since they quit seeding but prior to that we had lots of hail where we didn’t pay a hail insurance premium 20/23 years.

If it did what they claimed it did everyone would be doing it. ND at one time had 38 counties doing weather mod today the number is 4 woth at least 2 of those counties getting petitions together to end it.

We had a bill introduced in the state legislature last session that would have stripped state funding and made counties have to vote on it every 4 years that were in the program. Passed house by 62-13 margin or something like that. When it got to the senate the senator whose lobbying firm has represented the ND weather mod association got enough senators to not support it that the bill failed even after it was watered down to having hard setbacks to non seeded counties and it made counties in program vote on it every 4 years. This senator Mike Dwyer also sat on the appropriations committee simply told senators don’t vote for this bill or you won’t get money elsewhere is exactly what happened. Pathetic

I went to college with the state director of water commission here and she has turned into a giant hack for the program herself and absolutely loses it when someone asks her about it.

Calgary does some hail suppression and the week of our vote in 2020 they had a hailstorm hit that ddi over 1 billion in damage. They were seeding for hail suppression so ya works really really great. SMH.

The guys in bowman county who support it claims it works great but they literally still have highest hail insurance losses in the state. As they always make the excuse”it could have been worse” uhh dumbass you are 100% hailed out, you can’t get hailed out 140%!!!
