Douglass Kansas

Kind of surprising how short of a distance it is to have never witness large wind erosion.

Here there has been many times when one rain causes more erosion than what wind has caused in the last 40 years.

The worst wind erosion that I can remember was during the late winter early spring of 1996. There was many people that worked strips in there wheat to keep it from blowing. Our ground did not blow because we had worked the ground with a chiesel that did not have a harrow on it and it was still very clody after the wheat was planted. We did have a few acres of wheat that got blow out because of the dirt blowing off of the neighbors.

That day in Dec of 21, I think our peak wind speed was around 60mph, and there was very few fields that were blowing.
