Virginia | I'd be worried about heat units. I'm about 7-8 hrs south of you. I've planted sourgham on July 4th and if cutting for hay or chopping it's great. But when we get mid September and cooler nights it looks like it slows down.
You are further north then me, so it will definitely affect you.
In my experience and soil, sourgham responds better to sulfur as nitrogen.
I'd focus on a full season crop at that price per bushel. If you have the right conditions and variety you can grow 150 bushel with minimal inputs. At least this is my experience and opinion | |
