If beans come off early I’m partial to a legume mix of clovers with some rapeseed. It really helped some of my timber clay soils. It won’t really get going fast until April with above ground growth. I terminate at planting, which is usually first or second week of May.
After corn harvest I go with Hazlet cereal rye. Always plant green and spray shortly after. I also like rye ahead of planting corn but always terminate before planting
