| Looking ahead to fall 24. Have two small farms in south central Illinois that are next to each other. Once will be corn , one beans. Both farms HEL. I don’t have a drill so my only seeding option would be post harvest with the coop broadcasting on with fertilizer. Fields are timber soil with clay and lower organic matter. On these farms I want to control erosion and build organic matter. Wildlife pressure is higher moderate. What would be a good recommendation on what to use and then when to terminate.
I have an additional farm that is not HEL, that I would like to possibly cover , and then bury it with the plow as green manure to see if I could get a yield boost. Has anyone experimented with that ? | |
