Impossible to say how many acres can go in a certain size main without knowing grades. I don’t understand why guys can’t understand that. We tile for to many guys that squeal about the cost of the main, when that is the most important part of the project.

I agree with you (not knowing the layout), but an 8" main (3 of them in a 50 acre field is overkill. I've got a lot of tile in. New designed stuff put in in the last 20 years and split stuff (mostly the old 66' stuff. There has only been one time where we had an overload situation. That was in a 160 acre field with 1/2 mile runs. Certainly the amount of hookups (almost all of my tile is 30' or 33 on the split jobs), makes a difference but in my area here, one 8" main at 30 ft would easily handle 50 acres.
